Kwasi Kwartang's brazen nuclear energy deceptions

Tory Energy Minister Kwasi Kwartang has released a short Twitter video boasting about the Tory government's nuclear energy policies.

The problem of course is that it's every bit as honest as you'd expect from a government led by the most notorious liar in British politics.

Kwartang's description of the government's nuclear energy policy states that it will deliver "clean, affordable power generated in the UK, for the UK". 

Every single word of this is either deceptive, or a downright lie.

Clean

The idea that nuclear power is "clean" is an absolute fairy story. In reality Finland is the only country in the world preparing permanent safe storage for all of their nuclear waste. Britain's nuclear waste storage is an absolute shambles. For decades we just lobbed it in landfill, buried it in trenches, threw it down a well at Dounreay, and even set ourselves up as the nuclear dustbin of the world, importing nuclear waste from as far afield as Japan.

Most of Britain's nuclear waste is stored at the Low Level Waste Repository near Drigg in Cumbria. This enormous 270 acre site contains one million tons of nuclear waste, in temporary storage, and it's at risk of coastal erosion and flooding!

Amazingly this huge nuclear dumping ground is being run as a private profit-making company, but when it needs clearing up, there's absolutely no doubt that it will be paid for out of public funds.

Around 75% of the most radioactive waste in the UK is in temporary storage at Sellafield. The most recent cost estimate (2015) for cleaning up the radioactive dumping ground there is an astonishing £117 billion.

Anyone claiming nuclear energy in the UK is "clean", when we don't even have a single permanent nuclear waste storage facility is quite simply lying through their teeth.

Generated in the UK

One of the main boasts in Kwartang's little clip is about the construction of the Hinkley Point C reactor, which will admittedly be geographically located within the UK.

But what Kwartang deliberately omits to mention is the fact the the UK government has bribed the French government (in the guise of EDF) and the Chinese government (CGN) to build it for us.

The reason Britain can't build its own new nuclear infrastructure is that the Tory government privatised away our nuclear expertise, with Britain's entire fleet of nuclear power stations eventually falling into the hands of the French government (EDF).

Have you ever been informed by the BBC or by corporate media about the fact Britain handed control of its entire fleet of nuclear power plants to the French government?

Maybe ask yourself why the majority of the UK population have been kept in the dark about this utterly extraordinary situation.

Affordable

The only way the Tory government could get the governments of France and China to build them a new reactor at Hinkley Point C was to bribe them into doing it by promising to pay them double the market rate for electricity for 35 years. 

The National Audit Office have estimated that the terms of this deal mean that UK energy customers will end up paying an astonishing £50 billion above the natural market rate.

£50 billion siphoned out of the pockets of UK energy consumers, by the state-run energy companies of France and China, and this deceptive Tory piss-taker is telling us how "affordable" it's going to be!

For the UK

The idea that energy generated in the UK is exclusively "for the UK" is another deception. 

In the case of natural gas, exports out of the UK have doubled during the energy crisis, because the profiteering private companies operating our energy sector are driven exclusively by the profit motive, not by any desire to maintain the energy security of whichever nation they're operating in.

The only reason the French and Chinese governments would definitely be selling their electricity to the UK, is that the UK is the only country on earth stupid enough to promise to pay them double the market rate for 35 years.

If the UK government seriously wanted to secure the nation's energy supply, they'd take the sector out of the hands of the private profiteers and foreign governments it's fallen into since privatisation, and operate it as a not-for-profit publicly owned business, run for the good of the British people and the British economy.

Only a fool would think that promising to pay the governments of France and China double the market price for electricity was a good idea, and something to boast about. And only a downright liar would try to pretend that it represents a strengthening of the nation's energy security!

Conclusion

The inescapable conclusion is that Kwasi Kwartang is a profoundly deceptive character, who either doesn't understand the first thing about his ministerial role, or is lying through his teeth.

But it's more sinister than just one Tory minister churning out deceptions. The whole department is rotten to the core. 

It's beyond doubt that energy privatisation has been an absolute disaster for the UK, but instead of bringing it back under public ownership, they're bribing the French and Chinese governments to build our energy infrastructure for us, and then dressing this absurd nonsense up as if it represents some wonderful safeguarding of Britain's energy security.

Anyone in the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy with even the slightest clue what's actually going on knows perfectly well that it's a pack of deceptions and lies.

And any BBC/corporate media journalist who pays the slightest attention can see what a shambles it is too, and how deceptive Kwartang's being.

But there's a code of silence, so nobody speaks out.

If the Daily Mail really want to "stand up for Britain" they should ditch the toxic Tories

The Daily Mail are whipping up a huge storm of nationalist outrage that their beloved blue passports will be manufactured in France, but if you look at the root cause of this issue it turns out that the Daily Mail and their readers are heavily responsible.

The reason that the production of UK passports was put out to competitive tender in the first place is that the production of passports was privatised in 1996. Before that British passports were produced by a state owned company.

This privatisation was one of the last acts of vandalism of John Major's dead duck Tory administration. And who supported these Tories back into power in 1992 despite knowing all about their obsession with hard-right privatisation dogma?

The Daily Mail and their readers of course.

Then there's all the other Tory privatisation scams the Daily Mail and their readers have enabled through their unyielding support for the hard-right privatisation obsessed ideological dogma of the Tory party.

Here's some of the other stuff the pro-Tory propaganda rags and their Tory-voting readers are responsible for:

• As the result of the Tory privatisation of British Rail in 1994 an incredible 74% of franchises on the UK rail network are operated by the state rail companies of other nations, while Britain is the only nation that is barred from participation!

• In 1995 Britain's nuclear energy infrastructure and expertise was privatised by the Tories. Eventually the private owners figured out that they'd make more profit by flogging the whole lot to the French government than by running it themselves, so that's the reason we now have to bribe the French and Chinese into building our new nuclear power stations rather than building them ourselves.

• As a result of the Tory privatisation of the UK water supply in 1989, huge chunks of it have fallen into the hands of foreign states including China.

• As a result of the Tory privatisation of the National Grid in 1994 our electricity distribution network is now owned and operated by the Chinese and Qatari governments, with the British government having no stake at all.

• The pre-1997 Tories were bad enough, but the post-2010 Tories are even worse. They don't just hand British infrastructure and services to their private mates and then let them gradually fall into the hands of foreign governments. They've decided to cut out the middle man and flog off our national silver direct to foreign governments. Perhaps the most egregious example being the sale of the GPSS underground aviation fuel pipe network to the governments of Oman and the United Arab Emirates for £82 million, followed immediately by a ten year £237 million contract to use the system we owned until the Tories flogged it off.

All of this Tory economic vandalism puts the passport contract into context. 

If having our passports printed overseas is the grotesque affront to our national identity that the Daily Mail are making out that it is, then surely the distribution of our rail services, nuclear expertise, national grid, water supply, and airport fuel supply network are also affronts to our national identity?

But the Daily Mail and their readers have relentlessly backed the political party that inflicted all this crackpot privatisation dogma on our nation. And what's more is that they continually hate-monger against Jeremy Corbyn because he wants to undo the worst of the damage and return core British public services and infrastructure to British ownership.

So if the Daily Mail really wanted to "stand up for Britain" they'd ditch the toxic Tories and throw their weight behind Jeremy Corbyn and his economic repatriation policies.

If they had any sense of perspective at all the Daily Mail (and their readers) should have a good long period of self-reflection about their role in creating the passport situation they're so furious about ...

But we all know that they won't, and that they'll be back to Corbyn-bashing and their outright refusal to describe hard-right Tory privatisation mania as the profoundly anti-British agenda that it actually is.

Why you'd have to be an idiot to take lessons in patriotism from The S*n

One of the most infuriating thing about the hacks who work for The S*n is the way they repeatedly pose as if they're somehow the moral arbiters of British patriotism.

Of course there are arguments over whether patriotism is a good thing, or the "last refuge of the scoundrel" as Samuel Johnson said in 1775, but whatever our views on patriotism it's absolutely clear that people who work for an Australian/American owned propaganda rag with an provable institutional contempt for Britain and British values are not patriots.

On Friday October 6th 2017 the publisher of The S*n admitted liability for hacking into the email account of a British Army officer, and in 2011 the chief editor of The S*n bribed Ministry of Defence officials into leaking the details of dead British soldiers.

So next time you hear that S*n hacks are on the rampage, deriding politicians as unpatriotic for not bowing deeply enough at the Cenotaph for example, or engaging in poppy fascism when some footballer or celebrity decides not to wear one (or to wear a white one), just remember that these people are happy to work for an organisation that shows its respect for our troops by hacking into their email accounts and even bribing people in order to steal the private information of British soldiers who have died on the battlefield.

Aside from the absolute contempt The S*n have towards the British military, there's also the way this vile propaganda rag has continually promoted the fanatically right-wing economic agenda of neoliberalism that is favoured by their Australian/American owner Rupert Murdoch.

Neoliberalism is the virulent hard-right economic ideology that has completely dominated in the Westminster political establishment since Margaret Thatcher introduced it in 1979.

Neoliberalism is the reason that the British rail network no longer operates on behalf of the British people, and 74% of it now run by foreign state railways, with profits from our overpriced and overcrowded system exported overseas to fund the rail infrastructure of foreign lands (Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, France ...).

Neoliberalism is the reason the Tories privatised Britain's nuclear expertise, which was then sold on to the French government, and the reason that we can't build our own new nuclear power stations and need to bribe the French and Chinese into doing it for us by promising to use taxpayers' cash to pay them double the market rate for electricity for 35 years.

Neoliberalism is the reason that huge chunks of what used to be public property have been handed out to overseas corporations and foreign governments, because right-wing politicians have such hatred for the British state that they believe that the government of Qatar are better at running our water supplies than we are,  Oman and the United Arab Emirates are better at running our underground aviation fuel network than we are, and that Qatar and China are better at running our national grid than we are.

The S*n has cheered every crooked neoliberalism inspired privatisation scam since the 1980s because their love of hard-right economic dogma is such an item of faith to them that they consider promoting this sickening ideology way more important than the interests of Britain and the British people.

This ideologically driven sell off is nothing short of economic treason, and hacks at The S*n have spent the last four decades promoting it as hard as they can.

Every time you see a S*n headline celebrating "Britishness", or hear a S*n hack questioning someone else's patriotism, remember that this is a foreign-owned propaganda rag that steals the private information of dead British soldiers, and celebrated right-wing politicians as spent the last four decades selling our country out from under us.

"Taking back control" by handing control of HS2 to one of three foreign governments

Of all of the Brexit rhetoric the "taking back control" propaganda trope was surely the most powerfully persuasive, but a look at what the Tory government have in store for the HS2 rail project just goes to show how shockingly misleading "taking back control" actually was.

The Tories are planning to spend £56 billion on building the HS2 high speed rail link between London, Birmingham, and the north, but instead of run it ourselves they're immediately going to hand the whole lot over to a rail franchise to run the trains and reap the profits!

The three bidders to run HS2 have been announced and all three are fully, or partially owned by the state rail companies of other countries.

Bidder 1: The Italian state railway + First Group

Bidder 2: The French state railway + Stagecoach & Virgin

Bidder 3: The state owned Hong Kong subway operator and the Chinese Guangshen Railway

Tory privatisation mania

"Why can't Britain run its own high speed railways since it was British cash that built it?" you may well ask, and the answer is that Tory privatisation mania in the 1990s has destroyed the British railway industry, and their ideological hatred of Britain means they will never willingly allow Britain to run its own rail services.

In the 1970s and '80s British Rail led the world in developing high speed rail technology like the tilting train, but Tory under-investment in the 1980s and privatisation mania in the 1990s completely ruined the British train building industry. 

A whopping 1,064 days without a single new train order after privatisation wiped out the train builders and left the nation that invented rail travel dependent upon the Italians to supply us the same kind of tilting trains that we were pioneering in the '70s and '80s.

As a result of Tory privatisation mania 74% of UK rail franchises have now fallen into the hands of foreign state rail companies, that use British commuters and lucrative subsidies from the British government as cash cows to fund improvements to their own rail networks back home.

The Tories have enforced an insane system where the only country that is banned from bidding to run UK rail franchises is the UK!

The Tory party are such economic traitors that they're bitterly opposed to Britain running its own rail services, but happy as Larry for the governments of other countries to step in and milk huge profits out of British rail infrastructure!

Not just rail

The same sorry state of affairs exists with our nuclear industry which the Tories flogged off in 1995. By 2009 the private owners of Britain's nuclear expertise realised there was more cash to be made by flogging the whole lot off to the French government than continuing to run it themselves, so that's what they did.

Britain's nuclear expertise now belongs to France, and that's why the Tories ended up bribing France and China into building us a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C rather than building our own. We simply can't build our own because the Tories sold off our ability to do that back in 1995, just like they wrecked our rail expertise in 1994.

"Taking back control" - my arse

The "taking back control" narrative is absurd drivel when the reality is that the Tories flogged off our ability to control our own infrastructure and services during the privatisation mania of the 1990s, so now we're dependent on foreign governments to do the things the economically treasonous Tory party are ideologically opposed to Britain doing for herself.

So next time you hear some delusional Tory Brexiter banging on about sovereignty and "taking back control" just ask them whether they want the oh-so patriotic Tories to hand "control" of HS2 to the government of France, Italy or China and see what their response is ...

Are you an economic traitor?

Nobody likes to think of themselves as a traitor, but unfortunately many people are tricked into doing treasonous things.

I mean it's obvious isn't it? If someone wants people to act against the interests of their own community, region or nation they obviously need to trick them into doing it don't they?

Hardly anyone is going to commit treason willingly are they?

So in order to sell people treason, a grand deception needs to be constructed to make members of the public imagine that they're doing the right thing, when in reality they've been tricked into terribly betraying themselves and their own people.

Additionally the party that is attempting to get people to act against their own national interest is likely to focus heavily on attacking the reputation of anyone who opposes them. And what better strategy than to reverse reality and accuse their opponent of the very thing they themselves are guilty of?

The people selling you treason aren't going to come at you with a glossy prospectus with the word "treason" emblazoned on the cover. They're going to come at you wrapped in the flag, and constantly questioning the patriotism of anyone who stands in the way of their objective of tricking you into supporting their treasonous agenda.

This is the situation now. In Britain. In 2017.

The treason has been going on now for almost four decades and it's often wrapped up in slick sounding words and phrases like "globalisation", "privatisation", "free trade" and "foreign investment", but when you boil it down, it's blatant economic treason.

The groundwork for this economic treason was laid during the Tory privatisation mania of 1979-1997, when huge chunks of national infrastructure were sold off on the cheap, or simply given away for free, to the mega-rich.

The objective of course was to transfer ownership of the most prized parts of the UK economy to private individuals, who could then gorge themselves on the wealth they extracted from the British public.

In 1989 the water supply was privatised, in 1990 the National Grid was broken up and privatised, in 1994 the rail network was privatised, in 1995 Britain's nuclear energy infrastructure was privatised.

All of this stuff that was built up and maintained by the British taxpayer was hastily flogged off on the cheap, leaving the British public no longer stakeholders, but customers to be milked as hard as possible in order to maximise the private profits.

Many of the investors who ended up with chunks of public property were themselves treasonous individuals who used complex tax-dodging schemes to extract the wealth they were milking from the British public into offshore tax havens like Panama.

David Cameron's father was one of the people who made a pretty packet. Not directly from the infrastructure the Tory government were handing out, but by helping the private owners to siphon their profits overseas in order to avoid making a contribution to British society by paying their fair share of tax.

The rate of sell-offs declined significantly between 1997 and 2010 under the Blair-Brown government, but they did nothing to reverse the damage; they continued selling off bits and pieces like Air Traffic Control and the HMRC property portfolio; and they introduced PFI economic alchemy schemes to lumber the cost of current infrastructure spending onto future generations.

One important thing did happen during the Blair-Brown era that set the tone for what was to come. In 2008 the British nuclear power stations that were flogged off in 1995 were brought up by EdF, which is just a front for the French government.

It turned out that the private investors who gobbled up our nuclear industry in 1995 had so little loyalty to Britain that they literally handed the whole lot over to France when they realised it was more profitable to offload it to a foreign government than it would have been to keep running it themselves.

In 2010, when the Tories sneaked back into power with the help of the Orange Book Liberal Democrats, the rate of sell-offs and giveaways skyrocketed again. They flogged off the Royal Mail at way below market value, they privatised the police forensic science service, they privatised literally thousands of the schools that our kids study at, they privatised the universities, and the Government Pipeline and Storage Systems (the underground aviation fuel distribution network that was created during WWII).

By this time huge chunks of former national industries were falling into the hands of foreign governments.

The Chinese and Qatari governments were particularly keen to get their hands on what used to be our nationally owned infrastructure. China bagged a huge stake in Thames Water in 2012, they teamed up with Qatar to win a major stake in the National Grid in 2016, and in 2017 the Tory Transport Minister Chris Grayling handed the Soutwestern rail franchise over to the Hong Kong government with barely a murmur of protest (apart from in a few left-wing blogs).

One of the most shocking things of all was the sell-off of the Government Pipeline and Storage Systems. This time the Tory government didn't sell it to private investors who then sold it on to foreign governments a few years down the line.

No. In this case the Tories cut out the middle-man and transferred ownership direct from the British public to the foreign governments of Oman and the United Arab Emirates who own significant chunks of the nominally Spanish company it was flogged off to.

When they flogged off our aviation fuel distribution network to the governments of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, the Tory party committed direct economic treason.

They decided that our aviation fuel network was better being run for the benefit of the governments of Oman and the UAE than being run by the British government, for the benefit of the British people, and the British economy.

Theresa May has wrapped herself up in the Brexit banner and poses as if she's a patriot who loves Britain, but she was part of the government that handed our vital national infrastructure directly to foreign governments, and she's planning to carry on too.

In March 2017 she grovelled before the Qataris to beg them to buy up even more of our infrastructure.

Qatar is a country that is so dodgy they've even been accused of supporting terrorism by Saudi Arabia (the global epicentre of Wahabi Islamist fanaticism), but Theresa May actually begged them to come and buy even more of our national silver that she's intent on flogging off.

You might think nothing can be done to stop this Tory treason because "aren't all political parties more-or-less the same?"

Well you'd be wrong to think that.

Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-establishment outsider who has managed to wrest the Labour Party out of establishment control, and he wants to break up this decades long Westminster obsession with globalisation and privatisation.

Corbyn is planning to repatriate some of the most vital public infrastructure. 

Our rail franchises are now 74% operated by foreign governments. Jeremy Corbyn wants to renationalise them and run them for the benefit of the British people.

Corbyn also wants to take the national grid back from the Chinese and Qatari governments and run it for the British people.

And he wants to nationalise the water companies too, putting an end to Chinese government control over our water supplies.

The choice is a stark one. You can either believe the right-wing campaign of smears against Jeremy Corbyn and allow the Tories to con you into supporting their economically treasonous strategy of flogging our national infrastructure and services off to foreign governments ...

Or you can look past the barrage of propaganda from the economic traitors and their mainstream media bully boys who shill for the billionaire-owned newspapers, look at Jeremy Corbyn's actual policies, and understand that he's actually the patriotic one.

Jeremy Corbyn is the one who is saying that Britain is strong enough and wealthy enough to run our own infrastructure and services.

While Theresa May and the Tories are saying that we're so weak and broke that we have to continue flogging our national infrastructure off to China, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, or whoever else wants a slice, because in the warped Tory mind, foreign governments are so much more capable of running our infrastructure and services than our own country is!

Make no mistake about it. If you swallow the relentless Tory campaign of anti-Corbyn smears and vote the Tories into power again, you'll be committing an act of economic treason.

And what's worse is that you'll not be doing it because you've been duped into it, because you've read this article now, and you've had the grand deception pulled apart in front of your eyes.

If you vote Tory after reading this article, you'll be committing an act of economic treason in the full knowledge of what you're doing. Which is infinitely worse than doing it because you don't know any better than to be tricked by Theresa May's deceptive charade of fake patriotism.

If you vote Tory after reading this you'll be committing economic treason willingly and in full knowledge of what you're doing.

The communist takeover of the UK, and Jeremy Corbyn's plan to stop it

George Osborne's appointment as the editor of the Evening Standard was just another example of the incredible pro-Tory bias of the mainstream media.

Screwing the economy

George Osborne is the guy who pushed his ruinous ideological austerity agenda on the UK. Slashing public investment in the immediate aftermath of the bankers' insolvency crash strangled the post-crisis recovery at birth by subjecting the British workforce to the worst slump in the value of their wages since records began.

When inflation outpaces wage growth, workers have less cash in their pockets and the economy stagnates due to falling demand. The only thing that kept the GDP figures looking positive was that Osborne's mate Theresa May allowed the biggest inwards migration surge in UK history to go on.

Of course GDP was going to grow a bit if the home secretary let a city the size of Coventry worth of people flow into the UK in a single year, but the amount of wealth per person in the economy has flatlined for an entire decade.

Of course there's nothing wrong with immigration in principle, but if the government allows the biggest immigration surge in history at a time when they're ruthlessly slashing back public services and local government budgets, and also overseeing the lowest levels of house building since the early 1920s, of course it's going to exacerbate problems like over-stretched local services and rampant house price inflation.

Sucking up to communist China

Aside from screwing the economy George Osborne did something else too. He signed up to one of the worst rip-off deals ever concocted. He decided to bribe the communist government in China to build the UK a nuclear power plant by guaranteeing them that the UK would pay double the market rate for the electricity it produces for 35 years.

Theresa May had the opportunity to scrap this ludicrous deal, but when it came to a choice between shafting the UK public, or pissing off the Chinese communists, you know exactly what she chose don't you?

"Why can't the UK just build our own nuclear power plant?" you may well ask.

Well the reason we can't is that the UK's nuclear power stations and expertise was privatised by the Tories in 1996 and eventually ended up in the hands of the French government in 2008.

The red flag

So here we have the guy who promised £billions in taxpayers' cash as a bribe to communist China to get them to build the UK a nuclear power plant accusing Jeremy Corbyn of "flying the red flag" on the front page of the newspaper he now edits.

The hypocrisy of a guy who saw fit to use UK taxpayers' cash to bribe the Chinese communists using communist symbolism to attack a political rival is bad enough, but it gets worse.

The communist take over

As a result of Tory privatisation mania, large chunks of UK infrastructure have been taken over by the Chinese communists. One of the biggest stakeholders in the National Grid is the Chinese CIC sovereign wealth fund. CIC is one of the biggest stakeholders in Thames Water too.

It's less than two months since the Tory transport secretary Chris Grayling announced that he was handing another chunk of the UK rail network over to the communists by allowing the Hong Kong state railway to take over the South Western Rail Franchise.

Tory privatisation mania has created the opportunity for communist China to buy up significant chunks of UK infrastructure, but instead of opposing this communist takeover, the Tory government actually announce these communist takeovers with great fanfare as if they're wonderful success stories!

Repatriation

What Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party are proposing is that the UK's vital infrastructure should be run by the UK, for the benefit of the UK.

Corbyn wants to repatriate lots of the vital public infrastructure that has fallen into Chinese hands, and the Tories oppose his plans.

Backwards Orwellian propaganda

But somehow, if you listen to the political zombies who allow themselves to be brainwashed by the right-wing press, Corbyn is the nasty communist for wanting to repatriate our infrastructure, and the ones who allowed it to fall into the hands of communists, and want to keep things that way are the wonderful British patriots who they're all going to rush off and vote for!

The fact that so many people are so deluded about who the real communist sympathisers are is a testament to the power of the mainstream media to convince gullible people into believing that black is white, good is bad, and selling the UK off to communist Chine one piece at a time is patriotism.

A clear choice

A vote for the Tory party is a vote to keep vital UK infrastructure in the hands of the Chinese communists.

• If you ever hear anyone talking about Jeremy Corbyn as if he's a "communist", show them this article and/or ask them if they oppose Jeremy Corbyn's plan to repatriate British infrastructure from the Chinese communists, or whether they prefer the Tory policy of continually giving them even more of our infrastructure.

• If you don't register to vote, you can't vote against the Tories and their policy of keeping swathes of UK infrastructure under Chinese communist control.

How would the press react if Jeremy Corbyn behaved anything like Theresa May?

The extreme levels of mainstream media bias against Jeremy Corbyn has been academically proven. Even if you're the kind of person who has "had enough of experts", consider these things.

Given that the mainstream media continually blamed Jeremy Corbyn for Brexit (123 media appearances), how is it possible to explain that Theresa May actually gets repeatedly praised for her lazy self-serving non-campaign during the EU referendum (just 29 media appearances despite holding one of the most important offices of state)?

If Jeremy Corbyn had openly bragged about his willingness to incinerate 100,000 innocent men, women and children in a nuclear fireball like Theresa May did in July 2016, would the mainstream press have painted him as a "strong leader", or would they have used it as evidence that he's some kind of genocidal left-wing tyrant?

If Jeremy Corbyn had actually quoted a bigoted and misogynistic Twitter troll in parliament like Theresa May did in September 2016, would the mainstream press have given him a total free-pass on it like they gave Theresa May?

If, like Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn had a proven track record of attacking the rights and liberties of the British people, undermining the justice system, introducing discriminatory laws and fantasising about scrapping our human rights and replacing them with a set of "allowances" drawn up by him and his mates, would the media continually portray him as a "safe pair of hands" or would they use such an appalling track record as evidence that he's an authoritarian tyrant?

If Jeremy Corbyn decided to sign off on a ludicrous rip-off deal to bribe communist China into building our energy infrastructure for us like Theresa May did, would the mainstream media have just let it pass, or would they have shrieked themselves into hysteria about his extreme-left tendencies?

The obvious answer to all of these questions is that the media would not have given Corbyn the same kind of ridiculously easy ride that they keep giving Theresa May.

The mainstream press prefer Theresa may because she's keen on tax cuts for corporations and the super-rich, which suits the billionaire sociopaths who own most of the newspapers that set the political agenda. They hate Corbyn because he's a genuine anti-establishment outsider who would shake up the political system by giving more power to ordinary people (meaning less for self-entitled politicians, billionaire press barons and lazy mainstream media hacks).

Why do so many people adore Theresa May?

One of the most astounding things about the rise of Theresa May is the way that millions of people have just uncritically rote learned the right-wing media trope that she is some kind of "safe pair of hands" and then set about mindlessly repeating it as if it's their own opinion, rather than something bizarrely counter-factual that they've been programmed to say.

Even the remotest familiarity with Theresa May's track record at the Home Office makes this "safe pair of hands" story look absolutely ridiculous. This is a woman who promised to cut net migration to below 100,000 but actually oversaw the biggest inward migration peaks in all of British history!

Not only does May have a track record of brazen incompetence, she's also a hard-right authoritarian with a penchant for totalitarian policies like secret courts, discriminatory immigration rules for British spouses, hopelessly flawed, evidence-free and unworkable drugs laws, unprecedented state snooping powers and the abolition of our human rights.

Even if we ignore her track record of appalling incompetence and savage authoritarianism, it should be easy to see what a horrifying person she is: 

• In her inaugural speech as Prime Minister she cried crocodile tears about how white working class kids are so unlikely to make it to university, then immediately set about scrapping all of the grants and bursaries that allowed kids from low-income families to get a university education. 

• She bragged in parliament about her willingness to incinerate 100,000 innocent men, women and children in a nuclear fireball. 

• She gave a disgustingly obnoxious right-wing Twitter troll a massive and unprecedented "shout out" by quoting him at Prime Minister's Questions and writing him into the permanent Hansard record as a consequence. 

• She blatantly evades answering the questions she's asked and continually talks in mind-numbingly stupid platitudes like "Brexit means Brexit" and "living within our means" as if the public are just a gigantic collection of total halfwits who can be easily fobbed off with ridiculous economic fairy stories and tautological gibberish.

• She decided to completely screw over the UK taxpayer by continuing on with Cameron and Osborne's shambolic scheme to bribe the French and Chinese into building our nuclear power infrastructure for us by guaranteeing them double the market price for electricity for 35 years and then promising to load the astronomical nuclear waste storage costs onto the UK taxpayer too!

• She introduced the most extreme state surveillance laws in any developed nation that will allow the employees of all manner of non-terrorism related state agencies (the Food Standards Agency, the Gambling Commission, the Health and Safety Executive ...)  to snoop on the private communications data of innocent people. Additionally the Snoopers' Charter will also allow the police and secret services to lie in court in order to secure convictions!

• She is determined to scrap the concept of parliamentary sovereignty so that she can make up the law as she goes along to suit herself and the rogues gallery of bankers, hedge fund managers, tax-dodgers, landed gentry, property speculators and private health corporations who bankroll the Tory party.

Given the mountain of evidence that Theresa May is a nasty, dishonest and blatantly incompetent politician with alarming hard-right authoritarian tendencies, it's astonishing that so many people have rote learned the absurdly inaccurate "safe pair of hands" trope from the mainstream media that she's actually become Britain's favourite politician!

It's obvious that the Mainstream media have helped to create this misleadingly positive impression by completely failing to hold her to account for her blunders (imagine the absolute furore if Jeremy Corbyn had quoted a vile misogynistic Twitter troll in parliament) or her dictatorial Snoopers' Charter that would have made the East German Statsi turn green with envy.

It's astonishing that people allow themselves to be hoodwinked like this but it's undeniable that they have been. So what is it that people like about Theresa May?

Perhaps there's just something in the British psyche that makes an awful lot of people adore Theresa May's overly strict nanny persona? Perhaps millions of people share the same shameful and deeply buried perversion that wants some kind of dominatrix nanny figure to punish and abuse them with impunity? What other explanation is there?
