The Tory party are absolutely desperate for a majority that they're appealing directly to the bigot demographic with outrageous Muslim-bashing rhetoric (to cover their own terrible security lapses), and by welcoming the absolute dregs of humanity back into their fold with open arms.
Janice Atkinson is so incredibly dodgy she got thrown out of UKIP for alleged expenses fiddling; so extremely right-wing that she is now a close ally of Marine Le Pen in the European Parliament. and so intensely thick that she called for the death sentence to be reintroduced for suicide bombers!
Janice the political opportunist started off her patchwork political career as a failed Tory candidate in the Batley and Spen constituency in 2010, jumped ship in order to ride the UKIP European Parliament expenses gravy train, got thrown out of UKIP because her expenses fiddling was too egregious even for them, then teamed up with Marine Le Pen's fascist group in the European Parliament.
You would have thought that the idea of having an active Le Pen supporter (and UKIP-splitter) on their campaign team would have filled traditional Tories with revulsion, but there simply hasn't been any kind of moderate Tory fightback against the extreme-right drift of their party at all.
Looking back at the past it's clear now that the likes of John Major, Michael Heseltine and Ken Clarke weren't all that bad compared to the current crop of Tory politicians, but maybe the "One Nation" Tories have all died off now? Maybe there are no moderate Tory centrists left to fight back against the gross Ukipification of their party?

One of the problems with defenders of right-wing demagoguery is the way that so many of them only seem to be capable of thinking in the crudest black and white terms.
Here are a few examples of the ridiculously over-simplistic false dichotomies that are regularly lobbed at me by the kind of people who seem to talk solely in tabloid style rhetoric. If you don't love Trump, then you automatically must love Clinton. I don't love Clinton, I think she was just about the worst candidate the Democrats could have fielded against a demagogue like Trump. I liked Bernie Sanders and think he would have easily punctured Trump's ludicrous anti-establishment balloon by being an actual anti-establishment rebel, and that he would have won the "rust belt" states and the Presidential election. If you don't think Brexit is the best thing since sliced bread, you must adore the EU. I don't love the EU. I've written more critical analysis of the EU and stuff like the TTIP corporate power grab than 99% of Brexiters. The problem of course is that being aware of many of the EU's flaws is not the same as wanting to sign a blank contract with the Tory party to make things up as they go along in order to suit their financial backers' interests. I said it before the referendum and I'll say it again: Quitting the EU for a shambolic self-serving Tory Brexit is exactly the kind of situation that the phrase "out of the frying pan, into the fire" was invented for. If you don't love the fearmongering rhetoric of extreme-right demagogues like Farage, Bannon and Le Pen, then you must sympathise with Islamist fanatics. I don't have sympathy for violent, murderous or hate-filled fanatics of any kind. I firmly believe that Islamist fanatics and extreme-right hatemongers are two sides of the same despicable coin. I also think that the only way to avoid the appalling human suffering of the ideological "clash of civilisations" that both of these groups of fanatics crave, is for Muslims and non-Muslims to come together in solidarity against this appalling minority of divisive hate-filled extremists. Sadly the state of education in the UK (and the US) is so weak these days that millions of people actually buy into these ludicrously over-simplistic false dichotomies rather than applying a few basic critical thinking skills and looking for more sensible answers of their own.

If you were gullible enough to believe the the extreme-right propaganda promoted by billionaire owned rags like the Daily Mail, S*n and Express, you'd end up believing that liberals and the left are terrible bullies intent on repressing freedom-loving right-wingers like Nigel Farage, Donald Trump, Marine Le Pen and Theresa May's Brexiteer squad. The reality couldn't be more different. Any Brit with a social media account must be familiar with the baying mob of Brexiters who insist on shouting down any effort to question what Theresa May is actually up to with insults, abuse and instructions to "shut up" and "get over it" because they simply can't tolerate anyone holding a different opinion to their own. This savagely dictatorial mentality that wishes to silence and eradicate dissenting opinion isn't just limited to the followers of extreme-right demagogues like Farage, Trump and Le Pen. These demagogues and their inner circles also have the same intolerant attitude towards dissent and questioning. Look at the way Marine Le Pen's thugs dragged away the journalist Paul Larrouturou for daring to ask her a question about the 300,000€ in expenses she scammed from the European Parliament and is still refusing to repay. This is far from the only example of right-wing demagogues hatred of being held to account by the free press. Take a look at the American Spanish-language journalist Jorge Ramos being thrown out of a Trump press conference and then told to "get out of my country" by one of Trump's minions.
The extreme-right feed into the victim complexes of the gullible by telling them that the evil liberal elites want to silence them and remove their freedoms, whilst simultaneously violently repressing and disparaging members of the press who try to hold the extreme-right to account!
Anyone who actually thinks about things from a rational perspective couldn't possibly fall for this kind of abject hypocrisy, but unfortunately lots of people are easily swayed by emotional manipulation. Thus the extreme-right use themes like victimhood, fear and patriotism to emotionally sway their audience, and it doesn't matter how many coherent rational critiques are offered afterwards, once swayed by emotions the supporters of extreme-right demagogues are highly unlikely to be won back over by dry facts and analysis.
Even video evidence of the violent ejection of a journalist is unlikely to overcome this demagogue-worship because it's always much easier to fool a person than to convince them they've been fooled. But at least evidence like this has got a better chance than cold factual analysis if it's framed in the same kind of emotional way; as a breathtakingly hypocritical attack on freedom by a bunch of cry-bullies who constantly claim that they're the victims of censorship and persecution whilst seeking to silence and repress others.
